  The Oklahoma Children's Cancer Association (OCCA) was developed to help children cope with the emotional, physical and financial struggles associated with having cancer.
The organization was founded in 1974 by parents that experienced the trauma of having a child with cancer and understood the need to provide a local support point for future parents of children with cancer. Affiliated with the Children's Hospital of Oklahoma, the OCCA has grown to provide programs throughout the year for patients, financial assistance to patients and parents, and educational support to all involved.
The OCCA provides special assistance to the Jimmy Everest Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders to assist its patients undergoing treatment. The OCCA also offers programs and assistance to all Oklahoma children with cancer.
The association is funded through specific fund raising campaigns, including its Christmas Card sales drive highlighting artwork of cancer patients, and from outside funding from corporations, foundations and individuals.
All funding to the organization goes to developing programs and assistance to the children with cancer. The association has no paid employees. Initiatives include a special toy/game room for treatment areas, art programs, camps, parties, college scholarships for patients, educational materials, and research support.
